Apparently, “The Art of the Deal” (when it comes to Trump) is that you blow up a solid treaty with Iran because it was brokered when Obama was President. You claim it was a bad deal because Iran still had the capacity to have a missile program and to be a regional force in the Middle East. The Obama administration treaty was signed in 2015, and Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States in 2018 from an agreement that also included China, France, Russia, and the United Kingdom as signatories.
Fast forward 8 years, and after Israel and the United States bombed Iran last year (at tremendous expense to American taxpayers) to destroy its capacity for creating nuclear weapons (allegedly underway because no one could conduct inspections), you start another war with Iran that damages the world economy and adds more inflationary woe to Americans.
But, fear not, you send J.D. Vance in to save the day, as in clean up Trump’s mess. Does any of this make sense to anyone who has the capacity to do 5 minutes of critical thinking? Wasn’t Trump the guy who said he was going to get America out of the cycle of endless wars in the Mideast? Has anyone noticed Iran having a reduced missile capacity since Trump pulled the United States out of the treaty with Iran, and does anyone see Iran as less of a disruptive force in the Mideast these days?
Let’s not forget Iran’s return to making enriched uranium began after Trump pulled the U.S. out of the 2015 treaty. You incite the problem with your egotistic policy, and then join with Israel in trying to bomb into oblivion the consequence you created, but now it is time to make a deal as the world reels from these destructive policies.
Vance announces to the world they are making significant progress with advancing this latest “deal,” which will allow the world to re-enter Iran for the purpose of conducting nuclear inspections — the same kind that were being done under the 2015 agreement that existed before Trump blew things up, so to speak.
Whether inspections can be conducted is apparently disputed by Tehran, but who knows what’s believable at this point. It has been reported that if inspections occur, they will be the same type that were being done before when the prior treaty existed with Iran. Somehow, through all of this, we supposedly made things significantly safer for the world? Are we to assume we are inspecting the nuclear weapon capacity we allegedly destroyed last year?
The reality wrought by Trump’s foreign policy “agenda” is that thousands of people have needlessly died, including 13 American soldiers in the latest go-around. 170 girls were killed at a school in Iran along with thousands of innocent Iranian citizens, and billions of dollars are being drained from the U.S. treasury to support Trump’s latest folly, all while we negotiate with Iran to provide funds for the country to rebuild from the damages caused by our bombings. Hopefully, we have reached the point where Republicans in Congress are ready to rein in a man whose conduct regarding foreign policy with Iran has been disastrous.
It has been reported that the House and Senate have passed resolutions that prohibit Trump from engaging in further war actions against Iran without the support of Congress. Enough Republicans watching this pathetic tragedy have had it with allowing Trump’s administration to proceed without restriction. A crack has appeared in the anything-goes armor that has allowed Trump to foment so much damage. It’s about time.
