The MAGA crowd sure is in a tizzy over Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX halftime show. The Puerto Rican rapper and singer performed much like previous halftime acts, singing and dancing while surrounded by other performers singing and dancing.
Donald Trump led the halftime show criticism, proclaiming, “Nobody understands a word this guy is saying.”
Well, Mr. Trump, YOU don’t understand him because he’s speaking SPANISH!
However, as of 2025, over 636 million people worldwide speak Spanish, with nearly 60 million of them residing in the U.S. alone, placing the country, that you, Mr. Trump, have been elected leader of, second behind only Mexico in total Spanish speakers.
According to Gemini AI, “Bad Bunny is widely considered the world’s biggest pop star as of 2026, marking an historic ascent for Spanish-language music. He was named Spotify’s most-streamed artist globally for the fourth time (2020-2022, 2025) with nearly 20 billion streams in 2025.” Bad Bunny is often cited as the most important musician in the world right now and has a net worth of $100 million.
So, yes, somebody understands this guy.
But one must say that Mr. Trump, who nobody understands most of the time, reacted calmly to Bad Bunny compared to a conservative politician who was apoplectic over the show, Rep. Andy Ogles (R-Tenn.).
Rep. Ogles called Bad Bunny’s performance “gay pornography” and “pure smut.” He further claimed that “children were forced to endure” sexual dancing and lyrics that “openly glorified” certain sexual activities.
Ogles attended Middle Tennessee State University, where he failed every course taken in the fall of 1995 and the fall of 1998, resulting in a 0.00 GPA.
During his early political career, Ogles claimed to have a Political Science/International Relations degree. Once it was revealed that his degree was actually a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Studies, Ogles said he misunderstood what degree he had earned.
At a political debate, Ogles referred to himself as “a former member of law enforcement, who worked in international sex crimes, specifically child trafficking.” Yet a Tennessee local news channel discovered that Ogles had only served as a volunteer reserve deputy with the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.
He soon was removed from the volunteer position for failing to meet minimum standards, failing to progress in field training, and failing to attend required meetings. The Sheriff’s Office later said that records do not show Ogles trained or worked against international sex trafficking as a reserve deputy.
Rep. Ogles has identified himself as an economist and tax expert on campaign materials, but records show he only completed one community college course in economics, for which he received a C.
During a 2023 House debate, Ogles argued there was no such thing as climate change because “I just went trick or treating with my kids and it was like, you know, the low that evening was 29 degrees….”
Ogles denies the legitimacy of the 2020 United States presidential election, and he filed a resolution soon after Trump was elected a second time, which would change the 22nd Amendment to allow Trump to serve a third term. His rationale was that Trump “has proven himself to be the only figure in modern history capable of reversing our nation’s decay.”
All this wailing and gnashing of teeth by conservative politicians over Bad Bunny’s halftime performance raises the intriguing question of why they even watched it when Turning Point USA’s All-American Halftime Show featuring conservative darling Kid Rock was available.
Come to think of it, it’s hard to figure out why conservative politicians, including Trump, love Kid Rock so much. Granted, he is an ordained minister and owns a firearm collection, but otherwise, his appeal is difficult to pin down, especially when one considers his lifestyle and certain song lyrics he has written and performed.
For instance, Kid Rock wrote the song “Cool, Daddy Cool,” which was on the soundtrack for a cartoon scene aimed at appealing to children in the film Osmosis Jones. The song contains the lyric, “Young ladies, young ladies, I like ‘em underage see, Some say that’s statutory (But I say it’s mandatory).”
Then there is that one point in the singer’s career when the California pornographic film company Red Light District attempted to distribute a sex tape featuring Kid Rock and groupies.
Yet here was the same Kid Rock featured in a conservative, Christian, patriotic production created to rival the “indecent” acts in the Bad Bunny halftime show.
I must admit that I was a bit distracted while watching the halftime show due to the fact that I was trying to figure out how the New England Patriots ever made it to the Super Bowl with that offense. But honestly, I do not recall seeing anything like what Rep. Ogles claimed he saw.
And it is a mystery to me as to why Rep. Ogles was ogling girls twerking with Bad Bunny instead of watching Kid Rock lip-syncing the lyrics “Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie, said up drop the boogie Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy Said the boogie, said up jump the boogie.”
Now, honestly, Mr. Trump, do you understand a word this guy is saying?
