• The public is invited to attend a Pocatello City Council candidate forum from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Senior Center, 427 N. Sixth Ave. in Pocatello. This forum, which will take place during the monthly Pizza and Politics event, will give members of the public a chance to learn about the candidates and their plans for the city if they are elected in November. This event is free and open to the public, but they will be accepting monetary donations to cover the cost of the pizza and drinks. • John L. Hatcher was a well-known mountain man of the American Southwest. Descendant Barry Hatcher has placed John’s 1840s .58 caliber Hawken Heavy Plains Rifle and L.C. Smith Drilling Shotgun on extended loan at the Bannock County Historical Museum. Barry’s son Dale will be giving a presentation about John’s fascinating life during a presentation is being held at 7 p.m. today after a very brief business meeting of the Bannock County Historical Society in the museum’s gallery at 3000 Avenue of the Chiefs in Pocatello. • The Pocatello Senior Building Ad-Hoc Committee will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Council Chambers at Pocatello City Hall.

• The monthly luncheon and meeting of AARP, Chapter 288, will be held on Wednesday at the Senior Activity Center, 427 N. Sixth Ave. in Pocatello. Social hour will begin at 11 a.m. and lunch beginning at noon. They will be served roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, fruit and roll for $6.
