EAGLE — The Snake River boys golf team continues to prove it is one of the top programs in the state.

The Panthers proved this fact most recently Monday and Tuesday at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Eagle, bringing home state hardware for the fourth consecutive season.

“Four straight years with a trophy is something every team should be happy with,” Snake River coach Jeb Harrison said. “Really happy with the growth and effort of our kids over these last few years.”

Snake River entered Tuesday’s second round in fourth place — wedged in a three-team fight for second with Filer and Bear Lake.

The Panthers improved on their disappointing Day 1 performance, flipping a 344 into a 319 to finish third and claim that hardware.

“On Day 1 we did not play well,” Harrison said. “’Bounce Back’ was our theme for Day 2, and I was very proud of the way the kids did just that.”

The Snake River boys were fresh off a District 5 championship one week earlier in Preston with Crew Albertson, Boeden Burke and Hunter Lee placing 1-3-6, respectively.

Burke led the trio at state, opening with a 75 and finishing with an 80.

Albertson and Lee struggled in their opening rounds, but improved their Day 1 showing by a combined 19 strokes.

Kimberly was the overwhelming favorite going in and dominated the competition at 14 over.

Snake’s lone competitor on the girls side, senior Isabell Cagle, closed out her prep career with a joyous tour around the Eagle Hills layout.

Cagle placed 28th over the two-day event, improving by 11 strokes on Day 2.

Cagle rolled some putts, made some friends and hoped to represent all the girls on the Snake River roster.

“My teammates, coaches and people I’ve met have impacted me in so many ways,” Cagle said. “I cannot wait to play this sport for the rest of my life.”
