Yet again, Pocatello residents are given an example of ill-advised use of public funds with the announcement of the search for a new city logo.
It begs the question, why does a city even need a flag or a logo?
Here are a few suggestions for better use of $90K in no particular order;:
Three starter salaries for city workers; Money toward Aide for Friends renovation;
Repair/ replace faulty sidewalks for public safety (property owners aren't doing it);
Art in the parks projects; Greenway expansion; K- 9 safety vests; K-9 officers/training;
Land for tiny homes; Tiny homes for the homeless; Rent reduction for poverty level individuals; Food bank donations; Purchase of one property along the river for future greenway expansion; Help with leaf/snow removal for the handicapped; Funds for subway walkway renovation; Expansion of Old Town street lamp program; Additional code enforcement officers; Tree replacement in town;Funding account for art museum; Funding toward Bonneville neighborhood housing project; Funds toward renovation of derelict hotel on West Center; Funding for free spay and neuter program; Return of public access television;
With a little thought, citizens could think of many better uses of that money.
