Property Tax Bill

Saturday is the deadline for Idahoans to pay at least the first half of their 2025 property taxes, Canyon County Treasurer Jennifer Watters announced in a press release.

Dec. 20 is the deadline in state law to make the payment, but since that day falls on a Saturday, Ada and Canyon counties will accept payments through Dec. 22, without additional charges.

For payments received after Dec. 22, the counties will assess a 2 percent late charge and begin assessing a 1 percent monthly interest charge beginning Jan. 1.

Under state law, property taxes may be paid in full or in two halves. The first half due date is Dec. 20 each year, while the second half deadline is June 20.

By laws, counties had to mail out property tax notices by the fourth Monday in November.

Both Ada and Canyon counties accept property tax payments via several methods, including in-person payments at the county courthouse, online payments, payments made by mail or at drop box. For additional information about payment options in your area, contact your local county treasurer’s office or visit their website.

Many homeowners with a mortgage may have it set up to pay their property taxes through their mortgage using an escrow account. Homeowners who are unsure what system they have in place should contact their mortgage provider or county treasurer’s office.
