Republican Jason Dixon won the GOP primary Tuesday to advance in his quest to win election as the Bannock County clerk during the Nov. 6 general election. Dixon received 522 votes to top fellow Republican candidate Max Shaffer, who received 408 votes. Both ran as write-in candidates.
They said they decided to run for the position after current county clerk Robert Poleki announced he would not seek re-election.
So Dixon is currently lined up to contest for the post against Democrat Kelly “Martinez” Rodriguez in the fall general election. Rodriquez faced no Democratic candidates in the Tuesday primary and received 3,220 votes.
