IDAHO FALLS — An Idaho Falls man was arrested Sunday after he reportedly admitted to punching a woman in the face multiple times.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Alex Benson, 37, told police he and the victim were having an argument when he hit her in the face three times.

The victim spoke to police when they arrived on scene, but denied that Benson hit her, repeatedly telling police he was “a good man.”

An officer wrote in the affidavit that the victim’s left cheek was bruised and that her left eyelid was black and swollen shut. Benson reportedly told police he hit the victim on the left side of her face.

Benson was arrested and charged with felony domestic battery, punishable with up to 10 years in prison.

A no-contact order was issued between Benson and the victim, and he was released to pretrial supervision.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 26 in Bonneville County Court.
