I was saddened to find out about the unidentified ashes at Downard funeral home and how several families will not have a final resting place for their loved ones. My family was personally affected by this situation as we will never know for sure if we have the remains of my grandmother. I feel as though the community should come together to have a celebration of life for these families and offer a final resting place for the remains. This way the families will have a place where they can leave flowers and other mementos for their loved ones. My suggestion would be to have people raise funds or maybe the local Pocatello cemetery can donate a plot for the families and have the ashes there. A nice bench and remembrance plaque do not bring justice but will hopefully bring peace.
