n Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter announced that the Bingham County community of Firth will host the next Capital for a Day on Wednesday. Gov. Otter brings State government to Idahoans living outside Boise each month by making a different town in Idaho the state’s “Capital for a Day.” The meetings provide local residents an opportunity to have open discussions about government issues and public policy with Governor Otter, members of his Cabinet and other senior State officials. The Capital for a Day on February 28th is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Firth City Hall, 106 E. Center Street in Firth. The City of Firth will provide a catered community luncheon at the same location.

n Riders in the Sky will perform at Idaho State University’s Stephens Performing Arts Center in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. as part of ISU’s “A Season of Note.”

n National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI SI) support group meets every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Life, Inc. 640 Pershing Ave. Family, Friends and Peers in recovery and dealing with mental illness are encouraged to come. On third Wednesdays we have a speaker for the first 20 minutes followed by the regular support session.

n Innovative Therapeutic Riding Program (ITRP) will be hosting a Premier Showing of the movie “Unbridled” Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Paramount Theatre located at 2085 Niagara in Idaho Falls, Idaho. Event highlights include a special visit by the miniature ponies from 6 to 7 p.m. With prizes for the first 10 people who attend the movie.

n The Pocatello Regional Airport will have officials with Pocatello Regional Airport, Mayor Brian Blad, the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber’s Air Service Committee, and members of the public welcome the new daily flight to Pocatello at the Pocatello Regional Airport Friday, March 2, at 2:30 p.m.

n The 13th annual Invitational High School art Show will be held at the Pocatello Art Center, 444 North Main, Pocatello on Friday, March 2, in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Saturday

n The Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship is hosting a Tour of Faith with 12 religions on a March 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is planned as a self-guided tour with personal preference on order of visitation and self-transportation. It will operate much as an open house of the various faith communities. The list of events will be published on the PVIF website at portneufinterfaith.org. Participants can stay any length of time but are encouraged to attend several sites to get a flavor of faith in the Portneuf Valley. n The Idaho Museum of Natural History at Idaho State University will host and celebrate the third annual Museum Masquerade Benefit on beginning at 5:30 p.m. March 3 at the Juniper Hills Country Club in Pocatello. The benefit will raise money for the upcoming “Astronomical Idaho” exhibit featuring “Be the Astronaut” from Eureka Exhibits.

n On Saturday, March 3rd, 9:00 a.m. at the Bru House, 502 North Main, there will be a Pastries and Politics event. Representatives from the Idaho Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee will be here to give us an update on what is happening in Boise and around the State.
