NO. 3 WEBER STATE 26, KENNESAW STATE 20

Weber State’s Adam Rodriguez returned a fumble 24 yards for a touchdown early in the third quarter as the Wildcats came back to beat Kennesaw State 26-20 and book their spot in the FCS quarterfinals Saturday in Ogden, Utah.

Rodriguez’s scoop-and-score on a fumbled pitch gave Weber State (10-3) its first lead of the game at 19-17. Josh Davis later added a 2-yard touchdown run to give the Wildcats some breathing room, and Weber’s defense held Kennesaw (11-3) to 82 yards and one field goal in the second half.

For the game, Weber State held the Owls’ triple-option attack to 225 yards, with 215 of those on the ground.

Devon Cooley had four catches for 90 yards and a touchdown for the Wildcats, who move on to the FCS quarterfinals for the third-straight year with the win.

They’ll host Montana in Ogden next Saturday.

NO. 5 MONTANA STATE 47, ALBANY 21

Montana State scored 47 unanswered points after an opening-drive touchdown by Albany to blow out the Great Danes 47-21 in Bozeman, Montana, on Saturday.

Travis Jonsen ran for a 47-yard score for the Bobcats (9-3) to tie the game at 7-7 not even three minutes in, and a blocked punt for a safety gave Montana State the lead shortly after.

The Bobcats kept piling on and led 26-7 at halftime. Lance McCutcheon caught two touchdowns in the third quarter and Logan Jones ran for one early in the fourth to extend the lead before two late consolation scores for Albany (9-4).

Tucker Rovig threw for 279 yards — 131 to Kevin Kassis — and three touchdowns for the Bobcats, who outgained the Great Danes 483 to 333.

Montana State advances to the FCS quarterfinals for the first time since 2012.

The Bobcats will play the winner of the Sacramento State-Austin Peay game next Saturday.

NO. 6 MONTANA 73, SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA 28

It was a record-setting day for Montana (9-3) as the Grizzlies blew out Southeastern Louisiana (8-4) 73-28 in Missoula, Montana, on Saturday to advance to the FCS quarterfinals for the first time, officially, since 2009.

Montana wide receiver Samori Toure finished with 12 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns, breaking a school record for receiving yards set by Joe Douglass in 1996, as well as Randy Moss’s FCS playoff record of 288, set the same year.

Griz running back Marcus Knight ran for three touchdowns and caught another to get to 25 touchdowns on the season, breaking Chase Reynolds’ school record of 24 in the process.

His 7-yard touchdown catch with seven seconds left in the first half gave Montana a 38-21 lead at the break. Toure caught a 29-yard touchdown 57 seconds into the second half, and the Grizzlies romped from there.

Freshman cornerback Corbin Walker’s pick-six with under two minutes gave the Griz 73 points, their first time scoring over 70 points in a game since, again, 1996.

Montana plays at Weber State in the FCS quarterfinals next Saturday.
