ELK FESTIVAL AT HARDWARE RANCH

The annual Elk Festival will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Hardware Ranch Wildlife Management Area in Blacksmith Fork Canyon.

Several outdoor activities will be available, and if wild elk are pushed into the ranch by cold and snowy weather, you might have a chance to take a horse-drawn wagon or sleigh ride through the middle of the herd. On Nov. 17, Hardware Ranch Manager Brad Hunt said about 150 elk had started visiting the meadows where the sleigh rides are held.

VINTAGE RIFLE MATCH

The next Logan M1 Garand/Vintage Rifle/AR Match will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Cache Valley Public Shooting Range.

This is a Civilian Marksmanship Program-sanctioned match that will qualify participants to purchase a M1 Rifle from the CMP (www.odcmp.com). The match fee will be $25 ($15 for juniors). Any iron-sighted, as-issued, manually operated military rifle, as well as the M1 Garand, is eligible to participate.

CACHE ARCHERS CHRISTMAS SHOOT

The Cache Archers are proud to announce the annual Christmas 3D Fun Shoot to be held 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Cache County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena.

All proceeds will benefit the Kix96 Christmas Giveaway. The cost is $15 for members and non-members aged 16 and older. Ages 10-15 shoot for $5. Kids ages 9 and younger shoot for free. Additional shooting rounds will be $10. For more information, visit www.cachearchers.net.

USU MASTER GARDENER PROGRAM

The Utah State University Extension Master Gardener Program is a classroom and experiencial learning program to teach people the essentials of gardening. This includes growing vegetables, flowers, lawn care, fruit tree growth and pruning, how to use water wisely, how to deal with pests and weeds, garden design, and much more. The class works for both people who are new to gardening as well as those who’ve been doing it their whole lives.

Master Gardeners receive 13-14 weeks (9-11 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 31-May 2, 2017) of college-level lecture and hands-on training taught by USU Extension specialists and faculty. After completion of the training, USU Master Gardeners are required to provide a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service back to their community.
