There will be a free art walk from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in Idaho Falls. Artists around the region and the world will have their work displayed at community galleries, museums and artisan stores. Refreshments, live music and artist demos are available at some venues. Some participating venues are the Willowtree Gallery, ARTitorium on Broadway, the Spare Room Press and The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho. Live jazz trio Speakeasy performs in the Yellowstone Lounge, 230 W. Bonneville St. in Pocatello, from 6 to 8 p.m. every Thursday, featuring jazz classics from the 1930s in the style of Benny Goodman, with Keith Ward on clarinet/sax, Freddy Gildersleeve on guitar and Tanya Johnson on upright. “Crime 101” will be shown at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at ISU’s Bengal Theater. A meticulous jewel thief who seeks allies for his next heist while being in a cat-and-mouse game with an equally obsessive detective. Admission is $3 for the public, $2 for ISU employees and free for ISU students with a valid Bengal ID.
This week’s Chubbuck Movies in the Park features “Hoppers,” at dusk Friday, Aug. 7, at Stuart Park, 5161 Stuart Ave. Attendees are asked to come early and bring their own chairs and/or blankets. Audience members may also bring games to play while waiting for the movie. All children must be accompanied by an adult.. Admission is free.
Saturday, Aug. 8The Portneuf Valley Farmers Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Saturday through October at Lookout Point in downtown Pocatello.
The Chubbuck Days Celebration will take place Saturday, Aug. 8, starting with a parade at 10 a.m. The parade begins at the Pine Ridge Mall west entrance, follows Hawthorne Road to West Chubbuck Road and ends at Independence Avenue. A festival will follow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cotant Park.
The Crafter’s Market takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday inside Station Square, 200 S. Main St., in Historic Downtown Pocatello. Visitors can shop a rotating selection of local vendors offering jewelry, art, home décor, plants and more, with new makers featured each week.
An evening supporting low-cost spay/neuter for pets will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Idaho Brewing Company, 775 S. Capital Ave. in Idaho Falls. The event, titled Pints n’ Purrs, will offer tacos from Park Avenue Grill and music from Paige Anne and Judd Erickson. Entry fee is $20 and includes two beers and one free beer coupon to return with. Designated driver tickets are $5. Tickets are only accepted at the door. Cash is preferred, but Venmo and debit/credit cards are accepted.
Monday, Aug. 10Curbside Cravings is open from 4 to 8 p.m. every Monday through September at Lookout Point in downtown Pocatello. There will be a variety of food trucks.
