RIRIE — A local man was taken into custody Friday night after Jefferson County sheriff's deputies responded to reports of shots fired near 1st East in Ririe, authorities said.

Jefferson County Sheriff's Office dispatch received the call about the gunshots at 9:22 p.m.

Deputies responded and took Isreal Joel Hughes, 35, of Ririe, into custody without further incident.

The Sheriff's Office reported that the victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The victim's name hasn't been released.

Authorities determined no other suspects were involved and said there is no additional threat to the community.

The motive remains unknown. The investigation is ongoing and further details will be released at a later time, authorities said.
