Rexburg Police arrested two dirtbike riders and charged them with eluding police on Thursday around 7 p.m.
The dirtbikers initially fled from officers, later hiding the bikes and fleeing on foot, Rexburg police stated on its Facebook page.
Earlier that day, residents had reported the bikers riding recklessly through a city park, officers reported.
A police officer located the dirt bike riders and attempted to stop them.
“Both dirt bikes fled from officers at a high rate of speed,” stated officers. “Officers discontinued after the riders went through yards and continued to drive recklessly.”
Shortly afterward, officers found the dirtbikes hidden behind dumpsters, police stated.
“Both riders were located and charged for eluding despite (their) attempts to change clothes and flee on foot after hiding the bikes,” officers said.
Police also learned that the dirtbikes had been recently stolen.
