On October 13, 2018 at approximately 2:34 a.m. the Idaho State Police responded to an injury crash southbound on US Highway 95 at milepost 420.2, south of Coeur d'Alene.
A silver Subaru Legacy driven by Derek Gregory, 34, of Hayden, occupied by Amanda McCarthy, 35, of Post Falls, struck a moose. The vehicle came to rest on the southbound shoulder.
The moose came to rest in the southbound lanes, where it was then struck by a white Dodge Intrepid driven by Walter Betts, 63, of Rathdrum.
Neither occupant of the Subaru was wearing a seatbelt, both were transported via ambulance to Kootenai Health. Betts was uninjured.
The southbound lanes were blocked for approximately 1.25 hours.
