POCATELLO — Idaho State University has hired a new chief public safety officer.

Marc Pino will start at ISU on Feb. 1. Pino has been chief of police for more than four years at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs, according to an ISU press release.

“I look forward to joining the Idaho State family and the dedicated staff of the Department of Public Safety,” Pino said. “I am excited for the unique opportunities this position presents, and to meet the campus constituents I will have the honor of serving.”

Pino had also served as a lieutenant, sergeant, corporal and officer at UCCS. He joined that department in 2005.

Pino holds a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in public administration, both from UCCS. Pino also trained at the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy and holds certifications in risk assessment, assault response and mental health, according to the press release.
