POCATELLO — Construction is underway on a new clubhouse at Riverside Golf Course, with an estimated completion date of early 2027.

The two-story structure will replace the course’s current 80-plus-year-old clubhouse and will span approximately 3,700 square feet. It will include cart storage on the basement level, a golf simulator, a restaurant, a pro shop and 1,600 square feet of patio space.

Connections Credit Union is contributing $700,000 toward the estimated $2 million project in exchange for naming rights, making the facility the Connections Credit Union Clubhouse. The remainder will be covered by the Golf Capital Improvement Fund, which is supported in part by a portion of every golfer’s green fees.

“This is an exciting step forward for Riverside Golf Course,” said Anne Butler, Pocatello Parks and Recreation director. “We’re thrilled to see this project move into the construction phase and look forward to providing an updated clubhouse that will better serve golfers and visitors for years to come. We’re especially grateful to Connections Credit Union for helping make this vision a reality.”

Construction Services Inc. will serve as the construction manager, with Booth Architecture leading the design. A groundbreaking date has not yet been announced.

Work will continue throughout the summer. The city has provided temporary parking maps to guide golfers and visitors to designated areas during construction.

“Golf cart trailers will not be permitted in the main construction parking lot,” a city news release said. “Additional areas have been marked for trailer parking to help accommodate users during the construction period. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early for their tee time and be respectful of the surrounding residential areas. Drivers should also use extra caution along Bannock Highway during construction.”

Additional improvements may follow. Butler has previously indicated that replacing the irrigation system at Highland Golf Course — first installed in the 1980s — could be next, along with similar work at Riverside. Tree trimming, maintenance and removal are also priorities at both courses.

Pocatello Parks and Recreation said it appreciates the community’s patience and will provide updates as the project progresses.
