POCATELLO - The city plans to slash $450,000 from its 2009 budget before the end of the fiscal year due to declining state tax revenue, officials said Thursday.

Dave Swindell, the city's chief financial officer, said Pocatello had originally planned for a 5 to 6 percent reduction in sales tax and highway user revenue, mostly fuel tax, but the reality has been a much steeper 10 to 11 percent decline.
