POCATELLO - Mike and Tony Traveller, who live in Twin Falls, said their 73-year-old father is an avid runner and is their inspiration for taking up the athletic outlet as well.

"He started all this and the whole family just came along," said Brenda Traveller, Mike's wife.

On Saturday, the Traveller brothers, their wives, children and other family members were all running in the Idaho State Journal Pocatello Marathon. The adults and older children participated in the half marathon, Mike ran the 10K and the younger children ran in the 5K.

They even had two toddlers who ran in the 0.2 miles race.

It truly was a family affair for them.

"Some of us live in Pocatello, so it's a great way to get together," Brenda said.

None seemed worse for the wear on Saturday, but Mike implied he may have pushed his limits a bit.

"It was a real tester," he said of the 10K. "I didn't have a chance to train well."

Eleven-year-old Kaci Burch, among the Pocatello contingency of the family, led her younger family members through the 5K. It was the second time she ran that race.

"I did it two years ago," she said. "It was really good."

Mike and Brenda both praised the Pocatello Marathon, calling it a better quality event and saying it has more participation than other similar events in Southern and Eastern Idaho.

"It's better organized and better manned," Tony said, adding that he has never seen so many volunteers at such events.

"There were a lot of aid stations and they were all very helpful," Mike added.

Tony said running through Century High School was also a kick, and he especially enjoyed the drum line that played there.

"It's a really fun event because there is something for everyone," he said. "It's a much better family environment than most events."
