POCATELLO - An American Falls man who allegedly began throwing marijuana out his car window during a brief pursuit will be bound over to district court for trial.
Norman Turnbeaugh, 53, was pulled over Feb. 7 for allegedly speeding.
Police saw what appeared to be marijuana on his car seat. As an officer attempted to grab the suspected marijuana, Turnbeaugh drove off. During the half-mile pursuit, the man began throwing marijuana out his window, according to officers.
The officers collected the evidence, which was reported to be approximately one-half pound of marijuana, on the ground and in the car. Turnbeaugh was charged with possession of a controlled substance and destruction of evidence, both felonies.
Turnbeaugh contested the state's charges at his preliminary hearing Wednesday, but Magistrate Rick Carnaroli determined the state presented a sufficient basis for the case to proceed to trial.
