Pocatello native Sam Krieg finished 79th at Monday’s Boston Marathon in 2 hours, 32 minutes and 36 seconds. Krieg was the top finisher out of nine runners from Idaho and was 10th-fastest in his age group (40-44).

Krieg averaged a 5:50 mile and trimmed 27 seconds off his time from last year’s marathon, when he finished 48th. Krieg’s average speed was 9.33 mph.

Steve Marshburn, also of Pocatello, finished 3,443rd in 3:14:49. Idaho Falls’ Kyle Baldwin finished in 2,556th with a time of 3:09:44.

Kenya’s Geoffrey Kirui won the marathon in 2:09:37. Oregon’s Galen Rupp was the top American finisher in second place 2:09:58.
