Idaho State freshman Ashley VanVleet got things going for the Bengals this weekend winning the heptathlon at the Robison Invitational in Provo, Utah.

Women

VanVleet used a first-place finish in the heptathlon 200 meters to earn the overall win with a new personal-best score of 4887. VanVleet's 200-meter time of 25.71 seconds is also a personal best. Bengals sophomore Shayla Henderson was the top finisher in the heptathlon 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:15.92 to help her secure second place in the heptathlon. VanVleet and Henderson and now ranked first and second, respectively, in the Big Sky Conference in the heptathlon. Freshman Briana VanVleet had a personal-best score in the heptathlon of 4,573 to come in fourth. She is currently fifth in the Big Sky.

In the hammer throw, junior Taylor Clark took sixth with a toss of 164 feet, 9.25 inches, while sophomore Kylie Greenwell threw for 154-8.75 to come in ninth.

Men

Junior Trevor Jensen broke his previous personal best in the hammer throw by over four feet with his throw of 186-11.25. This mark moves Jensen to fourth in the Big Sky and third on the ISU all-time Top 10. Senior Christian Brininger finished sixth with a distance of 175-4.75. Junior Leo Finsterbusch had a huge improvement in the shot put with a personal-best 51'-0.25 to finish ninth.

Sophomore Cory Mullanix qualified to run in the 100-meter finals Saturday with his time of 10.96 seconds. Freshman Tanner Conner qualified in the 110-meter hurdles with the second-fastest time of the day. His time of 14.34 is a season best and puts him in second in the Big Sky.

Saturday 

The Robison Invitational continues Saturday with the field events beginning at 9 a.m. with the women's Javelin. The finals for the track events begin at 11 a.m. with the 10,000 meters, and the day will conclude with the 4x400-meter relays starting at 4:25 p.m.
