Idaho State’s Geno Luzcando and the Big Sky Conference team went 2-1 Friday-Saturday at the Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship, college basketball’s first-ever 3-on-3 national championship.

The Big Sky squad opened play Friday with a 21-19 loss to the Colonial Athletic Association on a game-ending shot by Towson's Mike Morsell. The Big Sky followed up the loss with a 21-14 win over the Big 12 Conference. Luzcando hit the game-ending shot from the left block, helping his team collect $1,000 for the victory. Luzcando and the Big Sky defeated the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) 21-20 on Saturday to conclude pool play. The Big Sky did not qualify for Sunday's quarterfinal, semifinal and championship rounds.

The event, which takes place Friday-Sunday in San Antonio at Bill Greehey Arena on St. Mary’s University's campus during the NCAA Tournament Final Four, pits all-star teams from college basketball’s 32 Division I conferences against each other in a three-day tournament that awards $100,000 in prize money. The team that wins the tournament takes home $50,000.

Luzcando played with Weber State’s Ryan Richardson, Northern Arizona's Kye De Laveaga and Southern Utah’s Jamal Aytes. All participants must be seniors who have officially ended their collegiate eligibility.
