Idaho State running back James Madison was named the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.

The fifth-year senior rushed 19 times for a season-high 146 yards, plus two touchdowns, to lead a rushing attack that amassed 315 yards to help the Bengals knock off Northern Arizona 56-42 on Saturday at Holt Arena.

Madison ranks fifth in the Big Sky and 19th in the FCS with 107.2 yards rushing per game this season, going over 100 yards three times. He is also tied for the conference lead with seven touchdowns, amounting to 10.5 points per game. Madison’s seven rushing scores tie for third in the FCS.

Madison is the second consecutive ISU player to earn a weekly award from the Big Sky. Linebacker Kody Graves was named the league’s defensive player of the week following the Bengals’ 25-21 win at North Dakota.

ISU’s last conference offensive player of the week was wide receiver Mitch Gueller, who earned the nod last season.
