The United States of America recently celebrated its 250th anniversary of the birth of this nation with the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Later with the installation of the United States Constitution, the founding fathers were inspired by divine guidance in how to correctly create a government that would successfully last through the ages. Today, this country is under attack by those that believe disproven and dangerous ideologies are far better than America’s ideals that humans are guaranteed life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The attack is organized and well-funded under the guise of the entry drug of Socialism and ultimately Communism.

Let’s be clear. Socialism does not work nor has it ever worked in the history of mankind. It is antithetical to the American way. It is a misguided goal where everyone has equal resources, wealth and income and does not honor personal work ethics, redistributes one’s wealth to others in the name of equity and eliminates personal liberty and freedom. It is wholly incompatible with free market capitalism, which is the proven formula that has brought more people out of poverty than any other economic principle in history.

Socialism is not a permanent form of government since alone it does not stand. The roadmap for Socialism always devolves into some form of Communism as evidenced by history. The ultimate goal of Communism is for the government to control all forms of property with the means of production being owned as a collective. Individualism is shunned, private property and business is banned and all of this enforced by coercive government military action.

Unfortunately, many of the younger generation are so disenchanted with not being able to find jobs in their chosen fields, not being able to afford to purchase a home and are used to government handouts. They see Socialism as a better way than pursuing the American dream derived from hard work, entrepreneurism and personal accountability. In 2019, an Axios poll found that 70% of millennials would vote for a candidate who espoused Socialism and even more alarming is that half were not favorable to Capitalism. Axios later followed up with another poll in 2021 reflecting that 51% of Americans ages 18-34 had a positive view of socialist ideals.

Recently, debate has begun over the Democratic Socialists of America’s platform. The pillars of their platform include radical changes to American government including the elimination of the Senate and the office of the presidency, abolishing the Electoral College and diminishing or canceling most forms of law enforcement especially where illegal immigration is involved. They propose pardoning all illegal immigrants and allow non-citizens the ability to vote. Rent control and “Medicare for All” is also their rallying cry. Let’s be clear again. Each of these ideas are radical and wholly incompatible with the founding ideals of this country.

The United States of America is a constitutional republic with a government forged and authorized by each of the sovereign states. True to the ideals of the founding fathers, the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government rightfully act as a check and balance on each other. Unlike democracy that is ruled by a simple majority, a constitutional republic recognizes equal states’ rights with 2 senators representing each state. It also allows a House of Representatives and allocates the number of representatives from each state by population. While the House considers legislation from a populist view, the Senate acts in a way that more narrowly protects or enhances each state’s rights.

Socialism would end our republic as we know it. With no president and Senate, the populist majority House would rule the government. Without the Electoral College and if the presidency still existed, only three or four states would essentially elect the next president with no need to vote from the rest of the country. States’ sovereign status would essentially be minimized. Checks and balances would be replaced with authoritarianism.

It is time to become educated about the dangers of allowing Socialism to become prevalent in America. New York, Michigan, Washington and other states are supporting socialist candidates and office holders. This idealistic war is at our doorstep and has been allowed to fester by the current Democratic party. Even Democratic party leadership is recognizing that the socialist faction is running and winning against moderate Democrat incumbents. It is time for the Democratic party to expel the Democratic Socialists of America faction requiring them to become their own third party or the traditional Democratic party will cease to exist.

It is up to each one of us to stand up to Socialism and Communism so that America may continue as the beacon on the hill for another 250 years. Become involved in the political process and vote as if your way of life as an American depends on it.
