POCATELLO — Walk With Christ is a spiritual journey through the life of Jesus Christ. Each year around Easter the members of the Pocatello Alameda Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints transform their meetinghouse into scenes depicting the life of the Savior to commemorate and “Walk With Christ.”

The 2017 dates are April 11 to 14 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and April 15 from 2 to 8 p.m. The church is at 930 E. Alameda Road across the street from Tendoy Elementary School.

There will be a special session in which sign language guides will be available to interpret for any deaf guests on April 13 at 6:30 p.m.

The journey takes about an hour as visitors to the building are escorted through rooms decorated to appear as they might have looked at the time Christ lived. Scenes from the life of Christ include the Nativity, Ministry, Last Supper, Garden of Gethsemane, Judgement by Pilate, Crucifixion, Empty Tomb and Resurrection. These scenes are portrayed through costumed actors, recordings, videos and pictures.

When the stake first began the event eight years ago, a few hundred people came to view it. Since then, thousand of people in the area and surrounding communities have attended. Many who have taken the journey return year after year to enjoy the experience. Those who attend as guests and those who prepare the event are spiritually uplifted and gain a greater understanding and appreciation for Christ.

The Walk With Christ is free to the public and everyone is invited to attend. It is a wonderful way for individuals and families to celebrate Easter.
