POCATELLO — The Snake River New Horizons Band will present its second annual Friends and Family Concert on May 18 at the Highland High School Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.
The Snake River New Horizons Band is a community-based organization for older adults to recover or discover their musical talents. Membership is open to anyone wishing to dust off the instrument they played in junior high or high school to make music once again with an ensemble. In addition, everyone is encouraged to explore hidden talents by learning to play a band instrument with this group. A beginning class is scheduled each week with a qualified teacher. Our motto is “Playing your best is good enough.”
The performance is free and open to the public. The band started in 2011 with only 18 people, now they have about 50 members that are all 50 years old or older. Anyone at any age is welcome to join the band. Musical experience is not necessary.
