POCATELLO — The Portneuf Greenway Foundation is excited to announce this year’s Riverfest event on Aug. 18 from 3 to 10 p.m. This year’s event will again take place at Lower Ross Park and tie into Zoo Idaho’s Zoofari Ice Cream Social.
“As with every year, we’re excited to bring back our annual Riverfest event,” said Rory Erchul, president of the board of the Greenway Foundation. “Having the event at Lower Ross Park has worked well for us and the people attending. As with the last two years, it’s easy to tie into the Ice Cream Zoofari event at the zoo. There’s plenty of room in the shade of the trees, and there’s no shortage of parking available.”
Erchul continued, “The music is going to be great starting with Pop the Clutch from Idaho Falls at 3 p.m., Sherrod Parkhouse and the Blues Day Riders starting around 5 p.m. and one of the most popular bands in Southeast Idaho, Kyd J, playing from 7 to 10 p.m. We’ll also have Hip Side Out Belly Dancers, plenty of vendors, kids activities, food, drinks and more.”
Riverfest will kick off around 3 p.m. Aug. 18 and go until about 10 p.m. Zoo Idaho’s Ice Cream Social will start at noon and end at 4 p.m.
“The Greenway has made a tremendous amount of progress in the last four years. We’ve added over 5 miles of paved trail, paved a parking lot, added crossing flashers at the Wellness Complex and have able to secure around $1.6 million for our mission,” Erchul said. “There’s a lot to celebrate and we’re inviting the entire community out for this celebration.”
