Only three nights of duplicate bridge were played during July, because the club had the night of July Fourth off to celebrate.

On July 11, first place winners in A group were Jeanne Moore and Dana Christensen, followed by Kathy Thomas and Ann Bryan, second in A and first in B and C. Cathy and Larry Kratz took third in A, and second in B and C. Tied for fourth place were the teams of Steve Smith and Mike Smith, and Janice Matteson-Howell and Jack Triplett. The Smiths were also third in B.

Ann Bryan and Janice Matteson-Howell rose to the top on July 18, with firsts in all three groups. They were trailed by Jeanne Moore and Dana Christensen, second in A. Third place honors in A and second in B and C went to Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen. Doris and Bill Brydon grabbed third in B, and were tied for fourth in A with Duane Murphy and Angela Butterfield.

The last Tuesday of July was another qualifying round for North American Pairs (NAP). Winners in A were Jeanne Moore and Dana Christensen, while Kathy Thomas and Ann Bryan placed second in A and first in B. Doris Brydon and Shiela Mathiesen eked out a third in A. Mardy Little and Steve Smith tied for fourth in A with Joy Burke and Joan Beall. Little and Smith were also second in B. These winning teams qualified for NAP along with Cathy and Larry Kratz.

Pairs qualifying for NAP earned the right to play in the district game in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in September. If successful, they can compete in the national tourney for top honors.
