Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen started the month off with firsts in all three groups. Joy Burke and Shiela Mathiesen placed second in A and B, and Jeanne Moore and Dana Christensen were third in A and B. Jessie Bell and Jan Green rounded out the winners with a second in C. These teams all qualified for the North American Pair competition, along with Janice Matteson-Howell and Angela Butterfield.

Doris Brydon and Shiela Mathiesen tied with Jeanne Moore and Dana Christensen for first in A on August 8. Mardy Little and Steve Smith took third in A and first in B. Paul Allen and Lucy Bonman were second in B.

On Aug. 15, Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen rose to the top again, scoring a first in A, followed by Dana Christensen and Jeanne Moore, second, and Joy Burke and Jack Triplett, third.

The fourth Tuesday of August was also a NAP qualifier. Joy Burke and Joan Beall came out winners in A and B, trailed by Doris Burke and Shiela Mathiesen, second in A and B. Barb Bain and Janice Matteson-Howell tallied thirds in A and B and a first in C. Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen had to settle for fourth in A and second in C. In addition to these four teams, Cathy and Larry Kratz also qualified for NAP play.

The final NAP qualifier for the Pocatello club was on Aug. 29, when Lucy Bonman and Paul Allen squeezed out a first in all three groups, topping Duane Murphy and Randy Gentillon, second in A. John Waldal and Jack Triplett were third in A. Kathy Thomas and Ann Bryan chalked up a fourth in A and a second in C. All of these teams qualified for NAP play, as did Mardy Little and Steve Smith, and Peggy Vogt and Barb Bain.
