Idaho State University men’s basketball hosts Northern Colorado on Thursday at 7 p.m. in Holt Arena, along with a Saturday matchup with North Dakota at 7 p.m. The Bengals vie for position in the Big Sky as they look to leapfrog the Bears in the standings. The weekend feature at the Bengal Theater is “Thor: Ragnarok” showing Thursday at 7 p.m., with shows Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:45 p.m. In this installment of the Marvel franchise, Thor must return to Asgard in time to save his world from the destruction of his evil sister. Admission is $3 for the public, $2 for ISU staff or free for ISU students with Bengal ID.

The Idaho State Civic Symphony’s annual Valentine’s concert is Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Grand Hall at the Stephens Performing Arts Center featuring Natalia Lauk on piano. Selections for the evening include Mozart’s “Overture to The Magic Flute,” Khachaturian’s “Adagio from Spartacus,” Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” and Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor.” Tickets run $13 to $37 and can be purchased at www.isu.edu/tickets or call 282-3595.

“Stop Kiss,” a play by Diana Son, will be shown this Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Variety calls it, “A poignant and funny play about the ways, both sudden and slow, that lives can change irrevocably.” “Stop Kiss” is about the subtler effects of living in a society in which intolerance is an unspoken fact. After Callie meets Sara, the two unexpectedly fall in love. Their first kiss provokes a violent attack that transforms their lives in a way they could never anticipate. A free movie night, with Seattle Film Festival winner “Dolores,” will be shown Sunday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater, telling the story of civil rights icon Dolores Huerta’s involvement in starting the farm worker’s unions along with Cesar Chavez, and her subsequent journey to give voice to women’s rights in America. And looking ahead to next week, Celebrate Idaho State will be at the Pond Student Union on Feb. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. as ISU shares their common bonds with the Pocatello community in a fun evening of demonstrations, performances, games, activities and giveaways, with free food being provided by the CommUniversity Committee and Driscoll Brothers.
