Idaho State University History’s Medieval World Speaker Series features Dr. Valerie Hansen from Yale this Wednesday at 4 p.m. in the Little Wood River room at the Pond Student Union. Hansen’s presentation is titled, “Before Da Gama: The Asian Age of Exploration when Spices and Ceramics Traveled Halfway around the Globe.” All are welcome to attend.

ISU also features Dr. Corey Seemiller, an organizational leadership expert and life coach from Wright State University, speaking on “Who is Generation Z?” this Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Salmon River Suite upstairs at the Pond Student Union. The Bengal Theater features “Mufasa” this Thursday through Saturday with shows at 7 p.m. along with a 4 p.m. matinee on Saturday also. In this prequel to the “Lion King,” orphaned cub Mufasa meets a sympathetic lion named Taka, the heir to a royal bloodline. The chance meeting sets in motion an expansive journey of an extraordinary group of misfits searching for their destinies. ISU professors Mark Neiwirth and Hyeri Choi feature a faculty concert performance this Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Grand Hall at the Stephens Performing Arts Center. Come and see the amazing ISU faculty perform. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for faculty and staff, and pre-college age students and ISU students get in free with a valid school ID. Children under 6 will not be admitted. Tickets can be purchased the night of the event.

Oscar Nominated “September 5” plays this Sunday at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. Based on a true story, during the 1972 Munich Olympics, an American sports broadcasting crew finds itself thrust into covering the hostage crisis involving Israeli athletes. Looking ahead to next week, “Kraven the Hunter” is the movie at the Bengal Theater March 20-22 at 7 p.m. with a Saturday matinee at 4 p.m. In this origin story, Kraven’s complex relationship with his ruthless father starts him down a path of vengeance, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.
