BOISE — Idaho Energy Freedom, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Idahoans about the economic benefits of clean energy, will host its inaugural webinar on Friday from noon to 1 p.m.

During the webinar, which is open to members of the media and the general public, Nez Perce and Sho-Ban leaders will share insights on Idaho’s growing clean energy economy.

The speakers include Talia Martin, GRID Alternatives’ director of tribal programs and a member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, and Chantel Greene, founder and CEO of Xexus Greene Energy and former Nez Perce tribal council member.

Martin brings 12 plus years of experience in tribal and federal governmental issues on environmental waste management and nuclear and renewable energy. An enrolled member of the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes of Fort Hall, Martin previously served as Tribal Department of Energy director for her tribes and served as their liaison with the U.S. Department of Energy. She is passionate about promoting STEM opportunities for tribal youth and integrating traditional ecological knowledge into her work with GRID alternatives and tribal nations.

Greene, an enrolled member of the Nez Perce Tribe, owns a consulting company that expands relationships and opportunities for Native American tribal nations with clean energy companies. She is a past tribal council member, including a stint as vice-chairwoman of the Nez Perce Tribal Council. Greene has served Idaho Gov. Brad Little’s 2022 Energy Infrastructure Task Force as well as his COVID-19 Financial Cares Committee. Greene is a past grant recipient and selected Fellow of the 2021-2022 Tribal Solar Accelerator Fund, through GRID Alternatives Tribal Energy Innovators Fellowship Program. She successfully completed the solar and energy storage resiliency project for the Nez Perce Tribe with first Idaho Tribal Tesla Megapacks. The solar resiliency project included service learning and workforce development for tribal members.

The webinar is also a chance to learn more about the second annual Idaho Energy Freedom Education Day slated for Jan. 23 at the Idaho State Capitol.
