• Today, the Portneuf Sangha, 424 W. Lewis St. in Pocatello, will examine ways to apply the Buddha’s teachings, the Dharma, to everyday life. This week, participants are invited to bring a short reading or a quote to share and discuss. The focus will be on the sixth component of the Noble Eightfold Path: Right Effort. The morning begins with chanting practice from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. with a 30-minute silent meditation period with guidance offered for those who would like it. After the meditation, the filmed teaching will be shown, and a brief discussion will follow. • Blazing Grace Church, 191 Jefferson Ave. in Pocatello, will host a Blessing of the Bikes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today. Come for prayer and blessing for the upcoming bike season. Enjoy food for your belly and food for your soul.

• “The Rider” will be shown at 4 and 7 p.m. today in the Bengal Theater. It’s a free movie night, along with the film society’s semi-annual potluck and trailer party at 5:45 p.m. In between shows at 5:45 p.m., there will be a potluck and trailer party where we’ll show trailers of potential upcoming films and let people help choose what we’ll show this summer and fall. All are welcome to attend. Bring a dish or dessert to share if you’re coming to the potluck.

• Al-Anon, a group for friends and family members of alcoholics, meets Mondays at noon at Mandarin House, 675 Yellowstone Ave. in Pocatello, and at 7 p.m. at Chubbuck United Methodist Church, 5147 Whitaker Road in Chubbuck.

• Pocatello-based flute choir, Suite 212, is presenting its 2019 spring concert at 7 p.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 N. 15th Ave. in Pocatello. The concert is free and open to all ages.

• The Palace Playhouse is presenting “The Drowsy Chaperone” at 7 p.m. Monday. It’s a delightful musical within a comedy and a loving send-up of the Jazz Age musical, featuring one show-stopping song and dance number after another.
