Tanoa Togiai, a 2020 Rigby High School graduate and six-year member of the University of Utah’s football program, has signed as an undrafted free agent with the Washington Commanders.

Primarily a defensive lineman for head coach Armando Gonzalez and the 2019 state championship-winning team, Togiai shifted to interior offensive line in Salt Lake City. He saw action in both 2022 and 2023 before taking over the starting left guard spot in 2024.

During Togiai's redshirt senior 2025 campaign, he kept his starting spot, earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors and was part of a unit that was named to the Joe Moore Award (for best offensive line) Midseason Honor Roll.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the deal includes a $15K signing bonus and the $125K portion of his base salary is fully guaranteed, totaling $140K in guaranteed money.

“The game that stands out to me is the (2019 state) semifinal game at Rocky Mountain,” Gonzalez told the Post Register. “They couldn’t block him.”

The Trojans would win that contest 31-9 before hoisting their first state championship trophy against Coeur d’Alene. Now, Togiai will have the opportunity to block for Jayden Daniels in the NFL.

Tanoa also joins his cousin, former Highland High School star and current Houston Texans defensive lineman Tommy Togiai, in the Idaho-to-NFL pipeline.
