The Blackfoot Single-A Legion team beat Bear Lake 8-5 and 9-4 to sweep Wednesday’s doubleheader in Montpelier.

In game one, Blackfoot scored four runs in the top of the seventh to break a 4-4 tie. Rhys Pope threw a complete game and went 2 for 4 at the plate.

Daden Jorgenson led the Bronco offense in game two, going 4 for 4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Emerson Stucki tossed all seven innings and contributed a pair of hits.

“Made the big plays when we needed to make the big plays and got good offense,” said Blackfoot coach Liam Pope. “Scoring eight and nine runs a game, that’s going to put you right there.

“Rhys and Emerson both pitched pretty well. Any trouble, they pitched themselves out of it.”

Blackfoot is 5-11 in district play with four games remaining until the district tournament that begins July 22 in Idaho Falls.
