MONTPELIER — Ethan Glenn, the only male cheerleader on the Bear Lake High School cheerleading team, is excited about the success the squad has had so far and looks forward to what's to come.

Glenn said he didn't originally want to be part of the team, but he joined after encouragement from a few of the other cheerleaders.

"I was friends with a lot of cheerleaders on the team," Glenn said. "They kind of peer pressured me into doing it."

This is the first year Glenn has been part of the cheer team. He plans to try out for the team next year as well.

"It enjoy it," Glenn said. "It's fun."

Glenn was excited to be able to compete at the recent regional competition held in Blackfoot that his team ended up winning.

"I loved it," Glenn said. "It was really fun to compete."

Glenn said the one thing he likes best about being on the cheer team is doing stunts with the other cheerleaders. He enjoys being part of the team's stunt group.

"Being able to do stunts with them is my favorite part," Glenn said.

Glenn encourages anyone who is thinking about joining their school's cheer team to go for it, though cheerleading is not an easy sport. 

"It's tough," Glenn said. "It's a lot of hours, but it's 100 percent worth it. You get used to waking up early."

Glenn is happy with the success the Bear Lake High School cheer team has had so far and he is looking forward to winning more competitions. 

"I'm excited to go to the other competitions," Glenn said.
