Throughout the NFL season, the Idaho State Journal will check in on former Idaho State football players currently in the NFL. Here’s an update after the 12th week of the regular season.

Dirk Koetter (1977, 79-81) and Evan Smith (2004-08)

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston threw for 312 yards and two touchdowns in the Buccaneers’ 27-9 victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, snapping the team’s four-game losing streak.

Winston, benched last month after turning the ball over 11 times in 14 quarters, completed 29 of 38 passes without an interception.

Former Idaho State offensive lineman Evan Smith was placed on injured reserve on Nov. 13 because of a hip injury. The 32-year-old played in seven games this season as a reserve offensive lineman.

Tampa Bay (4-7) and head coach Dirk Koetter host the Carolina Panthers on Dec. 2.

Josh Hill (2009-12)

New Orleans Saints

Tight end Josh Hill was not targeted in the Saints’ 31-17 home win Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons. In the victory, New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees completed 15 of 22 passes for 171 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

Pocatello native and fellow Saint Taysom Hill rushed two times for 13 yards and was sacked once. He also had one kick return for 32 yards.

The Saints (10-1) are in first place in the NFC South Division and play Nov. 29 at the Dallas Cowboys.

Marvin Lewis (1978-80)

Cincinnati Bengals

Head coach Marvin Lewis and the Cincinnati Bengals lost 35-20 at home Sunday to the Cleveland Browns.

The Bengals lost quarterback Andy Dalton to a thumb injury during the loss. Dalton is out for the season.

The Bengals (5-6) host the Denver Broncos on Dec. 2.
