POCATELLO — Kevin James Brown narrowly won the Republican nomination for state representative, position B, in Legislative District 29 during Tuesday’s primary election, but there was some confusion about whether he was even in the race.

Bannock County election officials say they received multiple calls on Tuesday from people asking if Brown had dropped out.

Officials with the Secretary of State’s Office on Wednesday confirmed that Brown was a valid candidate and did not withdraw from the race.

Brown won the Republican nomination with 51.9 percent of the vote on Tuesday. Molly Swallow followed close behind with 48.1 percent of the vote.

Brown will now go up against Democrat incumbent Elaine Smith in the General Election in November.
