POCATELLO — The Bureau of Land Management has scheduled a pair of public meetings regarding the proposed exchange of 719 acres of public land adjacent to the J.R. Simplot Co.’s Don Plant for 667 acres of private land in a popular local recreation area.

The Chinese Peak and Blackrock Canyon area, where the private land that would be transferred to BLM ownership is located, was identified by an agency resource management plan as being a priority area for “consolidating land ownership to maximize public values, provide public access and improve efficiencies in public land administration.

Meetings are scheduled for 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 12 at the Fort Hall Hotel and Event Center and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 13 at the BLM Pocatello Field Office, 4350 Cliffs Drive.

Comments must be submitted by July 5 to be considered for the draft environmental impact statement of the land exchange. Comments may be submitted electronically at http://go.usa.gov/xEUuc.
