SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Eight people were injured, at least five of them critically, after their sport utility vehicle collided with a light rail train on Sunday.

The crash happened when the westbound SUV hit the side of the northbound TRAX train in South Salt Lake City, Deputy Fire Chief Rodger Hoffman told the Deseret News.

All eight people were taken to hospitals.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
