Former Idaho State assistant football coach Britt Maughan has accepted a job as the defensive coordinator at Adams State University, ASU confirmed to the Journal on Friday.

Maughan spent the 2017 season as a volunteer defensive assistant coach for the Bengals after spending four years as head coach at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. Adams State is an NCAA Division II program located in Alamosa, Colorado.

The Grizzlies announced the promotion of offensive coordinator Josh Blankenship to head coach Dec. 6. Earlier that day, former head coach Timm Rosenbach left the school to be Bobby Hauck’s offensive coordinator at Montana.

Adams State went 4-7 last season. Maughan did not respond to the Journal’s request for comment. At 6:48 p.m. on Friday, Maughan tweeted, “Ready and excited for a new adventure!!!”

Maughan’s exit is the second ISU coaching change this offseason. The Journal reported Nov. 27 that ISU will not renew the contract of former defensive coordinator Spencer Toone, who had been on the Bengals’ coaching staff since 2013.
