It’s time to be brutally honest as to the state of the Republican Party in Bannock County. I am the Chairman of the BCRCC since 2020. I have seen a shift to the extreme far-right ideology of a group of precinct committeemen in the party. The ideology and the agenda the extreme far-right supports are held tight to the chest, not to be shared with the public. The State Republican Party voted at the 2022 State Convention under the leadership of Dorothy Moon to move the Republican Party to the extreme far-right. The catchwords Liberty, Conservative, and Freedom are used to make voters comfortable with their ideology. Calling anyone that does not support the far-right ideology, “RINO” a voter to fear. It is surprising how many come from out of state, and wish to “burn the party down.”

This group supports a loyalty pledge, removing the vote from the people; a majority of County Central Committees of their ideology will choose candidates for the ballot. This same body endorses Central Committees to censure candidates not in step with the IFF. They removed the vote from College Republicans, Young Republicans (under 40), and Republican Women. They vote against agriculture, public education, and funding highways, bridges and roads. In this primary, there is dark out-of-state money from Libertarian groups attempting to change the landscape of the Republican Party. These groups prefer no government at all.

Those who supported this far-right ideology in 2022-2023 need their votes to be known. These votes are public. This group should be proud to let voters know how they will represent them as precinct committeemen. Who they identify with, the far-right Liberty Caucus, Idaho Freedom Foundation, JBS, Freedom Caucus, or Dorothy Moon.

We need a large tent of Republicans. A far-right extreme ideology is not beneficial to our personal freedoms or to future generations. You decide with your vote, May 21st.
