A new Chick-fil-A restaurant will soon open near the Pocatello-Chubbuck border, sources say.

The restaurant is expected to open in late 2026 on a new pad site on the southern side of the Hurley Drive and Quinn Road intersection near Old Navy and the entrance to the former Naval Ordnance Plant, according to a source close to the development project.

This would become the first standalone Chick-fil-A location in the Gate City in addition to the storefront located in the Idaho State University Student Union Building that opened in September 2021.

When the new restaurant opens, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Feeding America to support local hunger relief efforts, according to the company’s website. The donation is part of the company’s standard practice for all new restaurant openings.

Local Chick-fil-A owner-operators also fight food insecurity through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program by donating surplus food from their restaurants to local soup kitchens, shelters and nonprofits to feed those in need, according to the website. To date, more than 30 million meals have been created from Chick-fil-A Shared Table donations from over 2,200 participating restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The company selects the owner-operator of every restaurant with care, looking for people who want to make an impact in their communities, according to its website. Operators host family events and help team members pursue higher education through the Remarkable Futures Scholarships initiative.

Chick-fil-A has maintained its tradition of closing on Sundays since founder S. Truett Cathy made that decision in 1946. Cathy, who knew what it was like to work seven days a week in restaurants, saw the importance of letting employees set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose, according to the website.

The company remains a family business, with Cathy’s grandson, Andrew, serving as CEO. The Cathy family has been working together for over 70 years. Chick-fil-A’s corporate purpose is “To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A,” according to its website.

The restaurant chain now has locations in 48 states as well as Puerto Rico, Canada, the United Kingdom and Singapore.
