Girls basketballRivals Blackfoot Broncos and Snake River Panthers battled in Snake River on Nov. 25, and the Broncos won 47-20.

The Broncos next faced Idaho Falls at home on Tuesday and will host the Bonneville Bees on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

The Panthers play Teton Timberwolves on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. and then go on the road and face Kimberly Bulldogs on Friday at 7:30 p.m. On Dec. 9, they will return to the road to challenge the Sugar-Salem Diggers at 7:30 p.m.

In their fourth game in one week, the Shelley Russets traveled to the Bonneville Bees’ court on Nov. 25 and lost in overtime, 58-56. This week, all three of their games will be in Shelley. They first face Hillcrest on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., then Rigby on Saturday at 2 p.m., and finally they take on Idaho Falls on Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.

The Firth Cougars are the only local team that remains undefeated. After defeating American Falls and South Fremont on the road, they beat West Side 61-55 in their first home game on Nov. 25. Thursday through Saturday marks the beginning of the Ririe Bulldog Shootout Tournament. On Thursday, the Cougars play Malad at 5:45 p.m., followed by facing Aberdeen on Friday at 4 p.m. and ending with challenging Murtaugh on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. For more information and live stream options, go to ririeshootout.com.

The Aberdeen Tigers are at 1-2 so far. They lost against Grace 59-40 on Nov. 18 and against North Fremont 48-34 on the Nov. 20. But they beat Rockland on Nov. 25, 46-39. They will join the Cougars at the Ririe Bulldog Shootout Tournament this coming week, playing West Jefferson on Thursday at 12:30 p.m., Firth on Friday at 4 p.m. and Ririe on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. All games are in Ririe.

Boys basketballBlackfoot boys basketball has begun. In Pocatello, on Friday, the Broncos will battle Century at 7:30 p.m. Their first home game will be on Dec. 9 against Rigby at 7:30 p.m.

The Snake River Panthers’ season starts with two back-to-back games on the road. First, they play Buhl on Friday at 7:30 p.m., and then on Saturday they face Filer at 4 p.m.

The Shelley Russets begin with an away game against Rigby on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. For the rest of the week, the games will be on the Russets’ home court. On Friday, they will face Highland at 7:30 p.m. and on Dec. 9, they battle against Century — also at 7:30 p.m.

To begin their season, the Firth Cougars will be on the road to play West Side on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Next, they travel to Declo, on Dec. 9 to face off against the Hornets at 7:30 p.m.

The Aberdeen Tigers will begin their season by traveling to Ashton to battle the North Fremont Huskies on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. This weekend, they will have two home games — one on Friday against American Falls at 7 p.m. and then one on Saturday against Grace at 7 p.m.
