The interfaith service will be held this Sunday.

POCATELLO — The Portneuf Valley Interfaith Fellowship invites all members of the community to join its annual Martin Luther King Jr. interfaith worship service. The service will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 200 N. 15th Ave. in Pocatello.

The theme of this year’s service is “Loving Your Enemies,” inspired by a sermon with the same title preached numerous times by King. In our fractured culture in which division has become so commonplace, we are drawing out of our diverse faith traditions the resources we need to embrace King’s vision of the beloved community and break the cycle of enemy-making. The service will include a wide range of sacred readings, prayers, speeches and music, as well as the presentation of the Joy Morrison Award. The service will spotlight our local branch of the NAACP, the Aid for Friends shelter and Sixes Creative LLC.
