n Multiple award winning movie, “American Folk” plays today at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Bengal Theater at the ISU Pond Student Union. Two strangers, both musicians, are grounded in California in the aftermath of 9/11 and embark on a hopeful, cross-country musical road trip, meeting the people of America in a time of crisis. n The Sawabi Chapter of the Idaho Native Plant Society invites you and your friends on a Saturday guided plant walk at Big Springs Campground near Lava Hot Springs. To carpool and caravan, meet at 9 a.m. at the Bison Sculpture by the Idaho Museum of Natural History Building on the lower campus of Idaho State University. Or meet about 10:15 a.m. at the site. The site is the parking area in front of the entrance to the campground. (The drive from Pocatello to the site is about one hour.) Mel Nicholls will lead the group along the gradually uphill Big Springs Nature Trail that is shaded by a canopy of trees. The nature trail ends at the beautiful natural spring area. n The Bannock County Historical Museum is hosting a celebration of life for John S. Farnsworth, former Pocatello fireman, on Saturday from 1 to 3 p.m.

n Pistols for Pets is a charity pistol shoot that will raise funds for the Bannock Humane Society. Donations that are $25 and up will get to shoot a 9mm pistol at steel targets. Hearing and eye protection will be provided. The event will be Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at the Oregon Trail Shooting Range, 9999 2 1/2 Mile Road in Pocatello.
