On Aug. 14, the Bannock County Democrats and the Idaho Democratic Women's Caucus Region 6 will be hosting "Southern Smoke" with Paulette Jordan and Kristin Collum from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Portneuf Wellness Complex's Pavilion No. 3 in Pocatello. Hear these great women speak about key issues facing our state and the need to move beyond "smoke and mirrors" proposals to real solutions.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet and talk with our candidates from Bannock County including those running for both county and state offices. This event is our seventh annual summer picnic fundraiser to benefit these local Democratic candidates.

We will feature a smoked meat contest between multiple chefs with the winner taking home a traveling trophy. The smoked meats including beef, pork, chicken, and salmon will be the highlight our southern barbecue-style menu. Additionally, musical entertainment will be provided by local artist Brody Fitch.
