Girls basketballAfter a week off, the Blackfoot Broncos hosted the Shelley Russets this Tuesday. Next, they will welcome the Snake River Panthers to the Bronco courts on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Then, on Saturday, the Broncos will travel to Hillcrest Knight territory for a 7:30 p.m. game — their last this year.

The Snake River Panthers lost to Sugar-Salem Diggers 69-32 on the road and then lost to the Filer Wildcats 42-32, also on the road. In Snake River, the Panthers hosted the South Fremont Cougars on Dec. 9. Next up is challenging the Broncos in Blackfoot on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Their final game before the holiday break will be in Teton when they face the Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m.

The Shelley Russets beat Idaho Falls 53-34 on their home court. Going on the road, they lost to Skyline in a heartbreaker 36-35. On Dec. 9, they played the Broncos in Blackfoot. To end their court action in 2025, the Russets will be at the East Idaho Holiday Shootout, where they will first face Mead of Colorado on Thursday at 3 p.m. Friday’s and Saturday’s matches will be determined by that Russet vs. Maverick action.

The Firth Cougars defeated the Declo Hornets 52-25 at home and then won again the next night in Dayton, defeating the West Side Pirates 51-31. On Dec. 12, they returned to home court — and lost to the Bear Lake Bears 48-25. To finish out the year, the Cougars will host North Fremont on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and American Falls on Thursday, also at 7:30 p.m. Their final game this year will be in Bear Lake, a rematch against the Bears on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Aberdeen Tigers defeated the Declo Hornets 60-54 on Dec. 12 at home and then lost on the road to the Wendell Trojans 53-23. They will be facing the Malad Dragons on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Aberdeen.

Boys basketballThe Blackfoot Broncos beat the Rigby Trojans 55-49 Dec. 9 and then went to the Capital Invitational Tournament in Boise Dec. 11 through Dec. 13. At the tournament, they defeated Kelso 62-58, lost to Capital in a close game, 67-65, and then defeated Mountain Home decisively 56-35. In the Broncos’ last game of 2025, they will have the home court advantage to challenge Idaho Falls on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m.

The Snake River Panthers lost to the Kimberly Bulldogs Dec. 11, 49-42, in an away game. On Dec. 13, they defeated Buhl in a home game, 64-51. This week, the Panthers will be in Teton to face the Timberwolves on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. They will return home to play Filer on Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

The Shelley Russets lost, 60-47, to the Century Diamondbacks Dec. 9. From Dec. 11 through Dec. 13, they were at the TitleOne Tip-Off Classic in Idaho Falls. They first lost to Sandpoint in a tight game, 51-50, and then they lost to Coeur d’Alene 65-44. Then the Russets rallied and ended the tournament by defeating Century 52-48. On Dec. 9, they played Bonneville at home, and they will face Sugar Salem in Sugar City on Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m.

The Firth Cougars defeated the Declo Hornets in a nail-biter 52-51 Dec. 9. At the Ririe Bulldog Shootout Tournament, the Cougars lost to Marsh Valley 54-50 the first day. Then on Dec. 12, they started a winning streak by beating Owyhee 71-40, followed by a victory against West Jefferson 46-39. On Wednesday, the Cougars will host Declo at 7:30 p.m. — their first home game of the season. On Friday, they will also play at home against West Side at 7:30 p.m.

The Aberdeen Tigers competed in the Ririe Bulldog Shootout Blue Tournament Dec. 11-Dec. 13. First they lost to Butte County 53-40, then they were defeated by Salmon 57-47, and on Dec. 13, they were outshot by Carey to lose 52-31. On Dec. 9, they hosted West Jefferson, and this Friday, they play Rockland on the road at 7:30 p.m.
